Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the press following our hard-fought 3-2 win against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.
Yousef Salech netted City’s first two goals, heading home twice to help us to victory, before setting up Isaak Davies, who scored the Bluebirds' third of the contest.
“I was really pleased with the performance." Brian began. "I thought we controlled the game for long spells, created good chances, and were really pleased at the end with the reaction to conceding the second goal, seeing out the game in such a comfortable fashion.
"It’s a great day for us all. We had the ball for good periods, found our creative players in forward areas and scored some brilliant goals.
“I thought the subs coming on brought a freshness to the game. It allowed us to increase our intensity with the ball. We started to get the ball to Cian Ashford and Isaak Davies and gave them service. Cian looked dangerous, and obviously, Isaak had the final say in the game.”
Salech now has nine goals in League One this season, making him the division's top scorer. Brian gave his thoughts on the forward’s performance.
“Naturally, he’s dangerous in the box, and our players are aware of where he moves so that we can find him with good crosses. We saw that today, it was really evident.”
The boss also commented on Cian Ashford’s performance; the winger's clever cross set up Salech's second goal of the afternoon.
“It’s been a big period of the season for Cian. He was left out of the squad against Northampton, which was difficult for him, but he’s bounced back from that well.
"The things we’re asking him to do are very important for his game. He’s a dynamic player and really powerful. You see what you saw today, how he’ll create and score goals for fun."
