The Bluebirds earned a huge point on the road on Tuesday night, snatching a late leveller against Huddersfield Town, and Brian Barry-Murphy shared his thoughts with the press after the match.
"It's really pleasing for the amount of supporters we had behind that goal to get to celebrate in such dramatic fashion." said Brian. "It takes an extraordinary effort from our supporters, on an evening like tonight, so to see the scenes at the end was very pleasing. Hopefully we can build on that on Saturday.
"I was pretty confident, irrespective of how patchy our performance was, that we would get chances. If we got chances with Callum [Robinson] and Yousef [Salech] in the box, there was a good chance they would take them. Luckily we were still in a position in the game where that would count."
After an excellent weekend display on home turf, the Bluebirds had to dig deep to earn another vital point at this late stage of the campaign, with some crucial saves from Nathan Trott helping them on their way.
The boss continued: "The nature of the league is so difficult. We were almost flawless on Saturday, and played the perfect game against a team of Bolton's calibre, but replicating that three days later wasn't possible for us. So we have to find another way of staying in the game, and hoping that we can get a chance to get a result, and the players managed that.
"We clearly have to accept that we weren't at our best in terms of performance, but we put a lot into Saturday, and I think that probably took its toll. Nathan made some good saves, which he has done at different stages of the season. We needed him tonight.
"They [Huddersfield] are a team who invested heavily in their squad at the start of the season with high hopes of being where we are, so we were under no illusions about the size of the task. The mentality of the team has been there all season, and it was good to see us maintain that right until the end."
Brian concluded: "I think it's a great experience for our team to go through this process of trying to win promotion, and understand how difficult it is. We have to live that, enjoy every single part of it, and try to win on Saturday."
