Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to press following City’s entertaining 4-3 victory over Leyton Orient at Cardiff City Stadium.
“I think if that is a sign of things to come at the Cardiff City Stadium. It's not going to be a dull ride," he began.
“I felt strongly in the first half that we misinterpreted what was needed from the game. We played a lot of short passes close to our goal and put ourselves under a lot of pressure. It was pretty high risk stuff from us when it didn’t need to be.
“I would say the overriding feeling for myself is one of immense pride for the players in terms of the second half.
“You saw us at our best and most dangerous when we flooded forward and really freed ourselves up and attacked in wide areas. Callum Robinson and Yousef [Salech] became so dangerous as we know they are.
“There’s a lot of things we can learn from the first and second half defensively as a team, but also we take a lot of positives from how we attacked.”

Dylan Lawlor scored his first senior goal for City, with Brian full of praise for the defender, but also commented on how he’ll learn from today’s game.
Brian continued: “He’s chuffed [with the goal]. I think he found it a really difficult game. You saw how much pressure he came under in terms of the physicality of Leyton Orient and he’ll learn a lot from the defensive side of the game.
“His goal was symbolic of how he plays the game, no fear and approach, stepping forward right to the edge of the box and lucky for us, produce a good finish.
“He’s a brilliant lad and we’ve seen signs of brilliance in his play. The attacking side for him is natural. He’s a centre back who can break through opposition pressure, which we needed today.”

Brian stressed how important it was that his young side bounced back from going behind in the second half.
“You’re looking for signs of what the team’s going to be like as we grow," the City boss added.
“I like the way we attacked and flooded forward in front of the Canton End. It was jammed, the supporters were begging for action they didn’t see in the first half and I was glad we gave it to them in the second half.
“I’ll be looking at the character of the players and the courage. A win today and if we win on Tuesday, then we’ve won four out of the last five games.
"For me, It's important that the players can separate themselves from that and focus on just playing the game."
