Ryan Wintle spoke to the press following City's dominant 3-0 victory against Mansfield Town, which marked the Bluebirds’ third home league victory in a row.
There were three different goalscorers at CCS this afternoon, with Will Fish, Yousef Salech and Cian Ashford all getting themselves on the scoresheet to secure the three points.
“We’re very happy to bounce back with two wins after a difficult period before - long may it continue.” Ryan began. “You could see out there that everyone was happy and enjoying the performance."
The Bluebirds managed to create plenty of space in behind, with many long passes finding Salech in particular. Wintle commented on how his teammates prepare for every challenge they face.
“We work on trying to break down opposition all the time. You saw they switched to a back five this week to try and be more solid. With Cal [Callum Robinson] up front he could suck them in, which meant there was more room in behind. We were on the same wavelength, so if he ran, I’d play it.”
Following six weeks without a home league game, City returned to CCS in style to claim three points and return to the Sky Bet League One summit.
“Obviously, we want to be at home all the time! There’s been a lot of travelling. Luckily, we’ve got a young squad, because if there were a few more old boys we’d be worried about stiff backs!” Wintle joked. “We’re buzzing to be at home, and now we’ve got a run of seven games in nine at home. It’ll help us to build momentum and to keep the points coming.
“As long as we do our job, we’re not really looking at anyone else. We just have to make sure we show our quality, every week so we can be where we want to be at the end of the season."
