On the back of four consecutive victories, City Women have an Adran Premier fixture against The New Saints this weekend.
The game will take place at Cardiff International Sports Campus on Sunday, October 18th, with a kick-off time of 2pm.
WEAR IT PINK
City Women will proudly wear pink for this Sunday’s home fixture, supporting Breast Cancer Now’s Wear It Pink campaign.
We're asking our supporters to join us in wearing pink and help create a pink takeover of Cardiff International Sports Campus, uniting our players, staff and fans behind everyone affected by breast cancer.
In Wales, around 2,800 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. That’s around 54 people every week. Breast cancer is also the most common cancer in women in Wales, accounting for 22% of new cancer cases in women.
Breast Cancer Now has a bold ambition that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live and live well, combining research, support and campaigning to change the future of breast cancer.
Football has an incredible ability to bring people together. On 18 October, we want to use that power to show our support for everyone affected by breast cancer and help make a difference.
Whether you're joining us at the game or supporting from afar; wear pink, make a donation and help us stand together with everyone affected by breast cancer.
PRE-MATCH | NOAH BUSHBY
“The last few weeks have been about building momentum. When you have a new group, the start to the season is always going to provide challenges. The first two games, I think we handled them well but the results were unfortunate for us. We came away from those, built on the positives and have taken them into our last four wins.
“Against Briton Ferry, you saw moments of our quality but there were also signs that it was a new group. Barry was another game where you could see us growing with another positive performance. In the second half against Cardiff Met, it was clear that players were clicking then at Aberystwyth, everything came together. We’re proud of that and how everyone has come together.
“Sunday’s game comes at a good time for us but it’s about ensuring that we do the right things, take forward our learnings from the previous matches and use those to maintain very high levels.
“The New Saints have had a very impressive start and we know a few of their players very well. We’re well aware of how talented those players are and for them to join a side who were already strong, they were always going to be a good team this season. They’re a side that score a lot of goals so we have to be wary, but we’re also confident in the players that we have. It will be a great game.
“Playing in pink on Sunday means a lot to the squad. It’s a massive cause and it’s something that has a huge effect. As a Women’s team, it’s crucial that we recognise that and show our support. There are players within our squad that have stories very close to them; it means a lot to them and for us as a Club to be able to show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness.”

“I think we can reflect positively on this season so far. As Noah has mentioned, with the amount of players that have come in, it has taken us a few games to gel, get used to each other and for everything to click. We had a difficult start to the campaign with our fixture list but that was good for us because it provided us with a lot of learning.
"They were a physically demanding set of games and we’re now seeing the rewards of our work. Things are clicking and the group, both on and off the pitch, are coming together. We’re definitely a team that as the season progresses, we will get stronger.
“We can take loads of confidence from our recent games. It’s not just about the amount of goals that we’ve scored, but the amount of goalscorers is also pleasing. We’ve had seasons previously where you could be reliant on a few players to get you those goals to win you the game, but you look around now and most players have put the ball in the net this season. For us as a team, it’s so important that we can score from a range of areas.
“Every footballer in the world looks forward to the biggest games during a season. The New Saints are in great form and every year, they push us and are a team that you have to keep your eye on. We relish that at Cardiff City and every test gives us an opportunity to show what we can do. The fans will be behind us and we’ll all aim for a positive result.
“With us wearing pink on Sunday, the more we can do to raise awareness in any way, particularly when it surrounds women, it’s so important to us as a Club. Every female footballer about supporting other females in whatever capacity that is. We’ll be so proud come Sunday to walk out in the pink kit and anything we can stand together for, it’s a real privilege for us that we can do that.”
OPPOSITION FOCUS
Sunday's opponents currently sit top of the Adran Premier table having won all of their six matches so far this campaign.
Their most recent matches were against Swansea City, Wrexham and Briton Ferry Llansawel.
In both their victories over the Swans and the Red Dragons, the score was locked level in added-time before a late winner from former Bluebird Fiona Barry.
Last time out, the side fell behind at home against Briton Ferry Llansawel, but goals from Barry, Chantelle Teare and Hannah Snape saw them claim a 3-1 win.

Entry for this Sunday’s match will cost £5 for adults and £1 for under 16s.
