Birmingham City come to our Cardiff City Stadium home in fantastic form. The Blues have won their last three games and currently sit fourth in the Sky Bet Championship table after 11 games.

They have visited Wales twice this campaign already, defeating Swansea City, 1-0, in the opening round of the Carabao Cup before besting Wrexham, 2-1, in league action at the end of August. They're unbeaten on the road since visiting Norwich City on September 9th.

Chris Davies has been manager of Birmingham City since 2024. He led the team to promotion from League One, setting an EFL points total record of 111 in the process, in his first season, before guiding the Blues to a 10th place finish in their first campaign back in the second tier, last time out.

Birmingham City winger Liam Millar takes a shot.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | THE BLUES

Canadian winger Liam Millar is making plenty of headlines during his loan spell with the Blues. Millar joined the Club at the start of September from Hull City and has scored four goals in seven starts this term.

Forward August Priske also has four goals for the season, while Demarai Gray has three strikes in the Championship, despite starting just one of his eight appearances so far this term.

One former Bluebird is amongst Birmingham City's squad. Ryan Allsop spent the 2022-23 season with the Bluebirds, before joining Hull City. The 34-year-old has made one competitive appearance this term in the Carabao Cup, with on-loan James Beadle currently being selected in goal.

It's safe to say Davies has a settled side at Birmingham City. Beadle is one of six players to have started every game for the Blues in the league in 2026/27, alongside Tomoki Iwata, Christoph Klarer, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Phil Neumann and Jay Stansfield. Alex Cochrane and Priske have both started 10 matches in the league.

Joe Ralls scores his second goal against Birmingham City, November 2019.
IN DAYS GONE BY | RALLSY BAGS THREE

It was an action packed CCS encounter when the Bluebirds faced the Blues back in November of 2019. Six goals and two red cards were shared!

Kristian Pedersen opened the scoring for the away side. Jude Bellingham should've increased the advantage before Joe Ralls netted his first of the afternoon from the penalty spot to level. Ralls provided the assist for Curtis Nelson to put the Bluebirds ahead before the interval, with the defender heading in.

City were reduced to ten men when Danny Ward was sent off with 38 minutes remaining. The Bluebirds though increased their lead when our iconic number 8 curled home.

Ivan Sunjic reduced the deficit to one late on, before Harlee Dean's red card made it ten men each.

City weren't to be caught though with Ralls scoring his third, and City's fourth, of the afternoon, with a second penalty kick. The always reliable Joe with a well taken spot kick in front of the Canton Stand, delighting the home support and securing the win.
