The Clarets come to the CCS searching for just their second win of the season. They are winless in five, with their last two fixtures ending in draws, most recently 1-1 at Loftus Road on Tuesday.
Their only win so far came away at Watford, where they ran out convincing 4-0 winners. The Lancashire side currently sit in the bottom three, four points behind the Bluebirds.
They are led by Swiss Head Coach Fabio Celestini, who joined at the end of October and is yet to win in charge. He has previously managed in Russia and Switzerland, winning the domestic double with FC Basel in 2025/26.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | BURNLEY
Burnley’s scoring charts are led by Largie Ramazani and Zeki Amdouni, both on three goals this season. Ramazani is on loan at Turf Moor from Leeds United, and netted last time out against QPR. Full-back Lucas Pires has the most assists, with the Brazilian setting up four goals so far.
One of the most recognisable names in Celestini’s side come on the other side of his defence, in Kyle Walker. The six-time Premier League winner has played twelve times for the Clarets this term, and has been part of both of their clean sheets.
Connor Roberts, who has been named in the upcoming Wales squad, is also at Turf Moor. He has featured only once in their last six matches, playing back-up to both current incumbent full-backs.

IN DAYS GONE BY | CARABAO CUP DELIGHT
Last season, Brian Barry-Murphy’s Bluebirds travelled to Premier League Burnley in the Carabao Cup. Two divisions below the Clarets, City arrived at Turf Moor as underdogs, but that didn’t stop them playing their way, having more of the ball and causing Scott Parker’s side real trouble.
City took the lead after half an hour. A corner was initially cleared, but the ball fell to Perry Ng, who sent it back into the danger zone. Calum Chambers battled well to set it up on a plate for Joel Colwill, who slid in to finish into an open goal.
Burnley tried to hit back immediately, but Nathan Trott stood firm to deny Armando Broja. Less than five minutes later, Callum Robinson doubled the advantage. Slick, one-touch football gave Rubin Colwill space in the box to pick out Robinson, and the Republic of Ireland international converted clinically.
City had further chances to extend their lead before the break, but couldn’t quite convert, and another strong stop from Trott helped them to a 2-0 half-time lead.
Burnley had the better of the chances at the start of the second half as they searched for a way back into the game. They got one back when an uncharacteristic mistake from Trott gave Zian Flemming the chance to whip a shot into the top corner and cut the deficit to a single goal.
Joel Colwill almost grabbed a second as the game wore on, but his shot narrowly missed the bottom right corner. Burnley had one last chance to find an equaliser, but Trott was more than equal to Mike Trésor’s effort. City saw out the win to complete one of last season’s biggest Cup upsets, then marched on to face Wrexham in the next round, where they ultimately won 2-1.
