IN DAYS GONE BY
The Bluebirds are unbeaten against Chelsea in three League Cup clashes.
The first time the Bluebirds and the Blues met in this competitive was in 1980. City won that game by a single Ray Bishop goal.
The second leg of this encounter came one week later, with Peter Kitchen helping City to earn a 1-1 draw away from home to progress in the tournament.
Six years later, it was a one off tie with Chelsea visiting the Welsh capital. The First Division side opened the scoring through Keith Jones at Ninian Park, but new Bluebird Nick Platnauer scored twice to secure the win for Fourth Division City.
