Johor Darul Ta'zim, known as the Southern Tigers, are owned by Tunku Ismail Idris, the Crown Prince of Johor.

They play in the Malaysian Super League and have been crowned champions for seven consecutive seasons, along with completing the treble by winning the Malaysia Cup and the Malaysian FA Cup for the past three seasons. 

As champions, the Malaysian outfit qualified for the AFC Champions League Elite, where they advanced to the round of 16 but were defeated by Buriram United 1-0 over two legs. 

In the 2024/25 season, the side went unbeaten with a remarkable record of 23 wins and one draw.

Managing Johor Darul Ta'zim is a familiar name in former Watford boss Xisco Muñoz

In his playing career, he operated as a winger, representing the likes of Valencia, Real Betis and Levante, before a prolific spell at Dinamo Tblisi.

Muñoz had a spell as the manager of the latter, prior to his move to Vicarage Road in 2020.

The Spaniard led the Hornets to promotion to the Premier League with two games of the season remaining, achieving the feat witha. 1-0 win at home against Millwall.

He left Watford in October 2021 with the side 15th in the top-flight after seven matches. 

Since then, Muñoz has spent time as manager of Cypriot side Anorthosis, Sheffield Wednesday and DAC Dunajská Streda from Slovakia.

Bergson da Silva

Brazilian born striker Bérgson da Silva, now representing the Malaysian national team, scored a record-breaking 32 goals last campaign to become the first player in the league to score more than 30 goals in a season.

The 34-year-old spent his entire career in Brazil prior to moving to Johor Darul Ta'zim and provides the side with plenty of experience, as well as attacking threat. In 141 games for the club, Bérgson has scored 151 goals.

The squad's highlights also include young prospect Arif Aiman, who delivered five goals and two assists in the AFC Champions League, as well as veteran captain Natxo Insa anchoring in midfield.
