Tom Cleverley, boss of Plymouth Argyle...
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | KEY STAFF

Andrew Parkinson: Chief Executive Officer/Senior Safeguarding Manager

Tom Cleverley: Head Coach
Damon Lathrope: Assistant Head Coach
Matt Bevans: First Team Coach
Kevin Nancekivell: First Team Coach
Darryl Flahavan: Goalkeeper Coach

Plymouth Argyle appointed Tom Cleverley in June of 2025.

The former Manchester United midfielder finished the final years of his playing career at Watford, where he began his managerial journey also. He led the Hornets to a 14th placed finish, but was, somewhat surprisingly, let go from his position.

After a tough opening four game stint this term, Cleverley will want to put those defeats behind him and build on the positives of the recent weeks to rise up the table.

Lorent Tolaj takes a penalty.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | SEASON SO FAR

Following four losses to start the league campaign, the Pilgrims got their first win of the season against Blackpool last weekend.

They were in South Wales earlier this week, taking Swansea City to penalties in the Carabao Cup, before eventually bowing out of the cup.

One familiar face for City fans will be Lorent Tolaj. The dangerous forward was in the Port Vale team we faced earlier this month, before making the move to Home Park.

PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS | BBM & WINTS

BBM: “It's going to be a great game. They look as if they have clear qualities and are going to be an exceptionally difficult test for us. They look a really talented team with good individual players and look dangerous."

Wints: “You can see that supporters and the players are all buzzing for the next game. Plymouth Argyle got relegated with us last year, so they’re not going to come here and make it easy. We’re going to have to do everything right to make sure that we win the game.”

IN DAYS GONE BY

28/12/08 | Cardiff City 1-0 Plymouth Argyle

For our history element this week, we take a look back at Plymouth Argyle's final visit to Ninian Park.

Future City man Craig Noone would play in this game, entering as a substitute for Argyle. Also late on in this game, came the only goal. Jay Bothroyd struck home following excellent work from Gavin Rae.

While it wasn't the prettiest victory, three points is always the most important thing. The win would take City up to fourth in the Championship table.
