Mark Robins on the touchline for Coventry City
OPPOSITION FOCUS | IN THE DUGOUT

Coventry City’s boss is Mark Robins, who was appointed in March 2017 for his second spell in charge of the Sky Blues, making him the longest-serving manager in the Sky Bet Championship.

In his playing days, Robins represented Manchester United, where he made 48 league appearances, before going on to feature for the likes of Norwich City, Leicester City and Rotherham United.

Becoming manager of Rotherham United in 2007, Robins has also spent time in charge at Barnsley, Huddersfield Town and Scunthorpe United.

At Coventry City, Robins has had success in the EFL Trophy in 2017, as well winning the League Two play-offs in the following year.

Robins also led the Sky Blues back to the second-tier as they were crowned League One champions in 2020.

His side reached the Championship Play-Off Final last season, narrowly losing out on penalties to Luton Town.

OPPOSITION FOCUS | SEASON SO FAR

The Sky Blues currently sit seventh in the Sky Bet Championship table, four points outside of the final Play-Off berth with a game in-hand.

Prior to the international break, the side claimed back-to-back victories over Rotherham United and Watford, as well as booking their place in the FA Cup Semi-Finals by defeating Wolves.

They are currently on a run of three successive league victories, notably netting five goals in their win over Rotherham United.

Last time out, they travelled to Huddersfield Town and claimed an impressive 3-1 victory.

Haji Wright
OPPOSITION FOCUS | KEY PLAYERS

Two of Coventry City’s summer recruits have impressed so far this campaign, with Haji Wright and Ellis Simms both finding goalscoring form.

The duo were given the tough task of filling the void left by Viktor Gyökeres and Gustavo Hamer, who both left the club following their stellar campaigns last term.

They are both tied as the club's top scorers this season, with 16 goals apiece in all competitions.

Simms netted a brace against Huddersfield Town last time out, with Wright also on the scoresheet.

Karlan Grant celebrates scoring for Cardiff City
CITY FLASHBACK | PREVIOUS MEETING

The reverse fixture at Cardiff City Stadium back in September saw the Bluebirds claim all three points in a five-goal thriller.

A special moment came for Dimitrios Goutas after eight minutes, with the Greek defender thumping home a powerful header for his first City goal.

Despite the visitors equalising, it was a night of first goals for the Club, as Karlan Grant headed past ex-Bluebird Ben Wilson to get on the scoresheet for City for the first time.

Substitute Kion Etete made a brilliant impact off the bench, lashing into the bottom corner to double the lead, prior to Matty Godden netting a consolation goal for the visitors.
