Huddersfield Town are currently eighth in Sky Bet League One after 42 fixtures played. They are five points outside of the play-offs at this stage, having played one game more than Stevenage in the top six.

Manager, Liam Manning, is on compassionate leave for the remainder of the current campaign, with coaches Jon Stead and Martin Drury taking the side at the moment. Interestingly, Stead was the last player to score at Ninian Park.

Town played on home soil this past weekend, drawing 3-3 with Wycombe Wanderers. Their opponents equalised initially in the 90th minute, and while Marcus Harness thought he'd won it in the 96th minute, the Chairboys found another leveller in the 12th minute of added on time.

Town's home form has been impressive this term though, with just two league defeats at the Accu Stadium. They haven’t lost on home ground in the league since October. The Terriers have won 11 times and tied eight games, including four draws from their past six, at home.

Three former City players are on the books with Huddersfield Town at the moment - Rhys Healey, Jak Alnwick and Will Alves. Goalkeeper Lee Nicholls was substituted on the weekend, with Alnwick coming in to replace him. It’s been a season to forget for Healey, who is yet to appear for Huddersfield Town in 2025/26 and only got the nod once during a loan spell with Barrow during the first half of the campaign. Alves has played 14 times for Huddersfield on loan from Leicester City, but hasn’t been involved since March 14th.

Leo Castledine remains Town's top goalscorer with ten goals this term, despite his loan with the Club coming to an end in January. Next up in the scoring charts with eight league goals for the campaign is forward Bojan Radulović.

January loan signings Bobby Wales and Ryan Hardie came in from Swansea City and Wrexham respectively to boost the attacking options at the Accu Stadium. Wales is yet to score competitively for Town, while Hardie has two league goals from six appearances. Marcus Harness scored twice on the weekend, taking his tally to six goals in all competitions this term, while captain Ryan Ledson has six strikes from midfield this term.

30/01/16 - Huddersfield Town 2-3 Cardiff City

The Bluebirds faced off against the Terriers in January 2016, with Luton Town's Wembley hero from the weekend, Nahki Wells, leading the line in attack for Huddersfield Town on that day. Wells, who got on the scoresheet with a first half equaliser, was outdone back in 2016 by a City icon though.

Legend Peter Whittingham opened the scoring for City. Sammy Ameobi combined with Anthony Pilkington down the right, with Pilks cutting the ball back for Whitts to score a rare right footed goal. Wells low finish levelled the game three minutes later.

It was more positive work down the right wing that helped the Bluebirds regain their lead in the second half. Ameobi this time linking up with Fabio, before crossing for fellow on-loan man Lex Immers to slot into the empty net.

Whitts second goal was certainly not a rarity. With a free-kick just outside the box, City's iconic number seven stepped up and fired straight into the top corner of the net.

Harry Bunn reduced the deficit in added on time, but all three points went the way of the Bluebirds in an exciting encounter.

The Bluebirds and the Terriers also played out a five goal match at Cardiff City Stadium earlier this campaign.

Yousef Salech opened the scoring. While City were pegged back early in the second half by Leo Castledine’s strike, they were soon back ahead. Salech headed home his second from Cian Ashford’s cross.

Salech was heavily involved in the third goal too, with a deft header to find Isaak Davies. City’s number 39 took on the ball, beat his man and finished to net our third of the afternoon.

Joe Taylor deduced the deficit late on. City though were good value for their win and held out comfortably.
