Luton Town, like the Bluebirds, are adjusting to life in League One following relegation from the Championship last term.

They sit a point behind Brian Barry-Murphy's men going into Saturday's encounter, with three wins and a loss in the league so far.

Town are unbeaten in the league at their home ground this term, defeating both Wigan Athletic and AFC Wimbledon by a single goal at Kenilworth Road.

They have made eight new additions to the side during the summer window, including the permanent return of Kal Naismith from Bristol City. The 33-year-old was named captain of the Club during the summer.

Joel Colwill
PRE-MATCH PRESS | BBM & J.COLWILL

The City boss, and Joel Colwill, sat down with press on Thursday morning to discuss the upcoming clash.

Brian: "It’s a tough game in a tough environment, against a team who are very hard to play against in their own stadium.

"We’ll need to improve again on Saturday to give ourselves a chance to win again against a team of Luton’s calibre.

“We believe we’re capable of doing that and over the next two days we’re doing a lot of work to respect their strengths and play as well as we can to win the game.”

Joel: "They’ll be a big, physical team, who will be very good aerially, as well as on the floor. They’ll have strong runners, so we’re going to have to limit them aerially and play our football. It’s up to us to break them down and that’s what we’ll try to do.

"There’s definitely more to come from us. The boss has come in and brought his way of playing football. We’re only a few games in and we’re getting better at doing what he’s asking us to do in each game."

Lee Tomlin celebrates his goal against Luton Town...
IN DAYS GONE BY

08/02/20 | Luton Town 0-1 Cardiff City

Enigmatic City playmaker Lee Tomlin has been in the press for his coaching movements this week. The Leicester-born man has gone in as assistant manager to Ashvir Singh Johal at Morecambe, following a spell with Sheffield United’s youth setup. But five years ago, it was his magic on the playing field that got him national coverage.

Tomlin had scored for City at Birmingham City and against West Bromwich Albion in the weeks prior to the trip to Kenilworth Road. Town were fighting for their Championship lives, while the Bluebirds were aiming to make a late play-off surge.

The Hatters had plenty of chances in the clash, but it came down to a single piece of magic to settle the encounter. Tomlin received the ball from on-loan winger Albert Adomah, took it in his stride, and slotted in from the edge of the box, right in front of the travelling Cardiff City support!
