Change came at London Road following Peterborough’s defeat to Blackpool last weekend, as Darren Ferguson’s fourth spell at the Club was brought to an end.
The Posh find themselves bottom of League One with ten points after 13 fixtures and have turned to former Swindon Town, Notts County and Swansea City manager, Luke Williams to try and steer their season back on course.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | SEASON SO FAR
After an 18th place finish in the third tier last season, Peterborough began their 2025/26 campaign here with us in South Wales, losing 2-1 to the Bluebirds. Having taken the lead back in August, courtesy of a first half Bradley Ihionvien penalty, the visitors fell to memorable strikes from Rubin Colwill and Ronan Kpakio.
Seven League and Cup defeats and one draw followed in the Posh’s subsequent eight fixtures, before back-to-back wins mid-September against Wycombe Wanderers and Plymouth Argyle hinted at a turning of the tide. A further league win at Burton Albion would follow, in between defeats to Lincoln City and Bolton Wanderers. Last Saturday’s home loss to 23rd place Blackpool dented revival hopes and condemned former boss Ferguson to his fate.
On-loan Chelsea forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan top-scores for United in the League to date, with Kyrell Lisbie bagging a hat-trick in a Vertu Trophy group stage win over Aston Villa’s U21s.

      IN DAYS GONE BY
28/12/2009 | Peterborough United 4-4 Cardiff City
Arguably the most memorable meeting between the Posh and the Bluebirds came just after Christmas 16 years ago, when Dave Jones’ side snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
A woeful Peterborough found themselves 4-0 down at half time thanks to first half goals from Joe Ledley (2), Jay Bothroyd and Peter Whittingham.
But loanee midfielder Josh Simpson began the most unlikely of comebacks after 51 minutes in Cambridgeshire, scoring the first of a brace. Charlie Lee and George Boyd brought the score back to 3-4, before Simpson’s second on the stroke of 90 minutes completed a remarkable and memorable point snatch for the home side.
Chris Burke and Anthony Gerrard’s goals in the reverse fixture at Cardiff City Stadium two months later secured three points but made fewer headlines.
City: Marshall, McNaughton (Quinn 46), Hudson ©, Gerrard, Rae, Ledley, Whittingham, Burke, Matthews, Bothroyd (Etuhu 77), McCormack (Chopra 70).
