The Posh are 14th in the Sky Bet League One table after 39 games played. With 50 points on the board, they are seven ahead of the relegation zone, and 12 away from the play-off spots.
While it is unlikely Luke Williams' side will be dragged into the battle at the bottom or manage a late push for the top six, they will certainly have their say on the important matters in the league.
After meeting the Bluebirds, Peterborough United face Blackpool, Port Vale and Burton Albion all battling for survival as things stand.
They will then challenge promotion challengers Stockport County before finishing with two games at home against Mansfield Town and Doncaster Rovers.
Williams' appointment as manager in late October dramatically turned around the fortunes of Peterborough United, who at that stage had only picked up three wins all season.
Recent times have brought more unpredictable results. Their only win in the last six was a 5-0 home win over Rotherham United. Four of those games were on the road though, with the other a 3-3 home draw against Exeter City.

Midfielder Archie Collins has started all 39 of their league matches this term, and is the only player to do so.
Their biggest goal threats have come from Harry Leonard, Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Kyrell Lisbie. Leonard and Morgan have 12 league goals this term, while Lisbie sits just one behind on 11. All three players joined Peterborough United last summer. Leonard signed on a permanent deal from Blackburn Rovers, Morgan is a 20-year-old loanee from Chelsea while Lisbie joined from National League side Braintree Town.
Posh boss Williams didn't recruit heavily in January, choosing to trust the squad he inherited. Full-back Jacob Mendy came in from Wrexham in their only First Team signing of the winter window.

IN DAYS GONE BY
It wouldn't be unfair to say that the stadium formerly known as London Road hasn't always been the happiest hunting ground for Cardiff City.
Since becoming the home of Peterborough United in the 1930s we've visited 15 times - and won once. Our record against the Posh is similarly in their favour, with eight City wins against Peterborough United's 17 from 32 fixtures played.
Dramatic comebacks have been a thing when the two teams have met. While Bluebirds fans will want to forget all about the Posh coming back from four behind in late 2009, Aden Flint's late double to steal a point from 2-0 down in 2021 will bring back fonder memories.
The two teams have met twice this season in all competitions. The Bluebirds were victors on the opening day in the Welsh capital with Rubin Colwill and Ronan Kpakio scoring spectacular goals. The Posh though were 1-0 winners in the Emirates FA Cup match in November.
