Know Your Opponent | Club Profile
Based in West London, QPR were formed in 1882 after merging two teams called St Jude’s and Christchurch Rangers to formally create Queens Park Rangers as we know it today. The side have called Loftus Road home since 1917, temporarily leaving in 1931 and 1962, but have remained ever since.
The club has spent much of its history between the top two divisions of English football, with their best league finish coming in the 1975/76 First Division, finishing second - one point behind champions Liverpool. Their only major trophy came in 1967, where they beat West Bromwich Albion 3-2 in the League Cup Final.
QPR have been cemented as a Championship side for the past ten consecutive seasons since their relegation from the Premier League in 2014/15. They most recently finished in 15th position in the 2024/25 campaign.

In June, Frenchman Julien Stéphan was unveiled as the R's' new Head Coach, replace Martí Cifuentes after almost two years in charge at Loftus Road.
In his playing career, Stéphan operated as a defensive midfielder, coming through the ranks at Paris Saint Germain’s B side before representing clubs such as Toulouse, Racing Club and Stade Briochin.
After completing his playing career, he replaced former City boss Sabri Lamouchi as the manager of his hometown club Rennes in 2018, leading them to their first trophy in 48 years by winning the French Cup in 2019 and earning qualification to the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club’s history in 2020.
After leaving the side in 2021, he was announced as the manager of Strasbourg where he spent 18 months in charge before returning to Rennes, spending almost a year at the helm before departing in 2024.
