During his playing career, Dave Challinor was famed for his record breaking long throw, besting even City legend Andy Legg with his world record attempt.
After successful spells with Colwyn Bay, AFC Fylde and Hartlepool United, former County central defender Challinor returned to the club on November 2nd, 2021. He immediately led County back to the EFL and within two seasons had taken the team to League One.
They finished third in the league last season, but the lottery of the play-offs and a penalty shootout combined, costing them a place in the final.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | SEASON SO FAR
While it is matchday seven for the Bluebirds, following the postponement of our match with Burton Albion, our opponents have played one more match.
County have already picked up some impressive scalps in the league so far this term, as they once again hope to challenge at the top end of the table. Challinor's men defeated Bolton Wanderers on opening day, before picking up wins over Wycombe Wanderers and Burton Albion.
They were defeated, 4-2, by Plymouth Argyle last time out, in their second defeat of the league campaign. After seven games, they have 11 points.

IN DAYS GONE BY
14/09/02 | Cardiff City 2-1 Stockport County
Robert Earnshaw opened the scoring in just the second minute of the match, before the Bluebirds were pegged back 14 minutes later as Luke Beckett hit the scoresheet.
As often was the case in that era, the City looked to Graham Kavanagh for a piece of magic, and Kav once again duly delivered, netting the winner before the break.
Later that campaign, the two teams shared the spoils and two goals in Greater Manchester. It was the tale of two gents named Peter - with Clark giving the Hatters the lead, before Thorne earned City a draw late on.
