The Bluebirds started well, eager to get the opener. Fresh off signing a new deal, Yousef Salech had the best chance of the opening stages, finding himself on the end of Chambers’ cross. However, it was the visitors who found the opener shortly afterwards. Josh Dacres-Cogley’s initial shot at goal was saved by Nathan Trott, however Kyle Wootton tucked home the rebound for the visitors.

After the visitors scored, the majority of the first half was played out in the midfield with neither team able to control momentum. Ollie Tanner found himself in space 19 minutes into the contest but was intercepted by the County defence before he was able to strike.

Following a collision near the halfway line, there was twelve minutes of delay as Salech received treatment. In the seventh minute of the subsequent stoppage time, Tanner familiarised himself down the right wing and crossed the ball towards the box. The effort found the feet of Joel Colwill, who curled it into goal and levelled the scoring. The hosts found momentum after the equaliser, searching for the lead as Alex Robertson’s corner found Cian Ashford, though his effort went narrowly wide.

Barry-Murphy’s side carried their momentum into the second half. Ashford won a free kick in the opening stages after being brought down on the edge of the box. However, Robertson’s effort from distance went behind for a corner-kick. Joel Bagan found himself in space of the edge of the box soon after, however his long-range strike travelled wide for a goal kick.

At the 80-minute mark, Ashford make a run deep into the opposition’s half and found himself in space on the edge of the box, however his chance went over the bar. Soon after, Stockport County’s Jid Okeke found himself in the hosts' area, with Wintle on hand to clear the danger.

Ashford found himself in space again in the 85th minute, however his strike was deflected away. Two minutes later, substitute Callum Robinson had the best chance of the second half in front of goal but was denied by Stockport County’s Ben Hinchliffe. Despite chances in the second half, the game ended 1-1 with neither side able to claim the winner.

The Bluebirds are back at home on Tuesday, facing Barnsley with a 7:45pm kick off.
