Match Report | Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 Cardiff City

Chris Willock
The Bluebirds were defeated 3-0 by Wolves at Molineux on Saturday, October 31st, 2026.

Three headed goals did the damage for City, with Fer Lopez, Adam Armstrong and Ladislav Krejci scoring for the home side.

It felt as if Wolves began the game in lightning fashion when we last met them in 2019, but the hosts came out of the blocks even quicker this time around, with two headed goals inside the first 15 minutes of the game.

Fer Lopez put Cesar Peixoto's side in front, meeting Hugo Bueno's cross and heading beyond Nathan Trott after 11 minutes. The replay showed there was an offside question over Lopez's starting position, but the goal counted. Four minutes later. Adam Armstrong made it two-nil with another clinical finish.

Will Fish

Jack Moylan, Calum Scanlon and Ollie Tanner all saw efforts fail to reduce the deficit as the half went on, while Rafiki Said probably should've added a third for the hosts, but Trott saved well.

The second half saw City come out of the blocks quickly, with Joel Colwill denied inside the first minute of the restart. Colwill's effort six minutes later was equally stopped by Jose Sa as the Bluebirds continued pushing for a way back into the game.

Sadly, for the sold out away end, a third goal of the game did come just before the hour mark, but it was the home side celebrating again. Ladislav Krejci netted another header to hurt Brian Barry-Murphy's men, powering home from a set piece.

BBM went straight to his bench following this goal introducing the returning Rubin Colwill and Cian Ashford. The away side quickly saw two attempts kept out. Perry Ng's effort was blocked and Alex Robertson's strike was tipped away.

Yousef Salech

While it felt as if the game had gotten away from the Bluebirds, a telling moment came with 77 minutes on the clock. Yousef Salech's header was tipped away by Jose Sa and Joel Colwill failed to convert the rebound from close range. Two minutes later, City did find the net but the offside flag was up, stopping any celebrations for Jack Moylan's strike.

For Brian Barry-Murphy's side it is all about quickly turning their attentions to two big home matches before the next international break, firstly welcoming West Ham United to the Welsh capital on Wednesday night.
