We are pleased to announce that Matt Turner has extended his contract with Cardiff City.
The goalkeeper has put pen-to-paper on new terms which will see him remain in the Welsh capital until the summer of 2028.
The 23-year-old joined the Bluebirds as an Academy player back in 2021, spending time in the U21 side before gaining valuable experience in the senior setup over the past two seasons.
The Carmarthenshire-born stopper made his First Team debut for the Club in our Sky Bet League One opener against Peterborough United back in August, and has featured on four occasions in all competitions so far this term.
Speaking to Cardiff City TV after signing his extension, Matt said: “I’m really delighted. I’m glad it’s sorted now and hopefully we can kick on with the season.
“It’s been great, all the boys are really buying into what Brian wants and the performances on the pitch are a massive improvement from what’s been in previous years.
“What Brian has asked of me, I’ve tried to implement as best as I can in the performances I’ve had, and I’m just glad with the game time and being able to express myself.”
Brian Barry-Murphy added: "First and foremost, Matt's performances as a goalkeeper have blown me away since the first day of pre-season. He has been exceptional in his performance levels and that’s even without going into his influence on the dressing room. He is so keen to improve and to push himself every single day.
"In the first league game and in the Cup games, he has been at the highest level. He is someone we believe in, in terms of how good he is now but also how good he will become based on his performances and his attitude to improve.”
