Cardiff City Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Noah Bushby as Head of Women and Girls Football.
Having most recently been assistant coach to Iain Darbyshire, Bushby first joined the Club as coach of our U16s. There, he guided City to winning the FAW Girls' Cup, before stepping up to coach our U19s.
That brought similar success, as he led the Bluebirds to becoming National Champions, as well as winning the Hugh James SWFA Women’s Cup in April 2024. During his time with our age-grade sides, he played a key role in the development of a series of now-established Adran Premier players, notably Mikayla Cook and Madison Lloyd.
Since then, Noah has been a key part of Iain’s coaching team, who along with the hard work and commitment of the squad, have taken great strides forward.
Noah will officially begin his role on Monday, April 6th and will lead the Bluebirds in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup Final.
Commenting on the appointment, Head of Football Operations, Lee Southernwood said: “Noah impressed us enormously throughout the interview process. His understanding of our internal pathways, his clarity on what needs to improve, and his long‑standing contribution to the success of our Women’s & Girls’ programme made him stand out as the ideal candidate. He has played a major role in developing the structures that allow our younger players to progress into the senior environment, and his appointment brings real stability at an important moment for the Club. Noah knows our people, our culture and the standards we expect, and I’m confident he will continue to drive the programme forward.”
Executive Director & CEO, Ken Choo, added: “Noah has been a key part of the progress within our Women & Girls programme for several years, and his appointment reflects the impact he has already made. His work in building a clear and effective pathway for young players has been instrumental, and that experience came through strongly during the interview process. What impressed us most was his vision for how we will continue to grow and the confidence with which he outlined the next steps for the programme. He understands exactly what is required to elevate our standards further. I am delighted to see Noah take on this role and his appointment will provide the continuity, stability and direction needed.”
Noah told Cardiff City TV following his appointment: "It's a very proud moment for me. I feel so privileged to be in this position after being at the Club for seven years and a part of the Women's programme. To now be given the opportunity to lead it, it feels incredible. I've been a part of the success that we've had and I know what it takes to be successful. I want us to continue that and keep pushing our Women's programme forward.
"I think naturally, everyone has got their own stamp and ways of doing things. Everyone wants to do things in their own way. I will have learned a lot from Iain [Darbyshire], he's been a great leader of our team but I have my own ideas and my own ways of doing things. I definitely want to put those into place.
"I see the squad that we've currently got and I really enjoy working with the players. I want to keep progressing them. We've got a lot of young players coming through and players that we've given a lot of opportunities to. The players are deserving of it and earning it in training. It's very exciting what the future has to hold."
