Northampton Town reaction | Brian Barry-Murphy

Brian Barry-Murphy
Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the press after City picked up a hard-fought three points away at Northampton Town.

"I'm so happy for our supporters, who have travelled so much with us over the last few weeks, that they got to enjoy a magnificent victory on the road." Brian began.

"I think we just had to show that we had the mentality and the ability to come to a stadium like this and play against a Northampton team who are very effective at what they do, and cope with it. The lads showed a really commendable attitude to do that today."

"I spoke before the game about having everybody back fit, and that changes really quickly in football, as you can see. Rubin [Colwill]'s ankle injury looks pretty serious on first glance, so during the game we became very stretched very quickly.

"The nature of the game was a very difficult game; in tough conditions, we had to weather different storms at different times of the game, and show that we could do that. That is one of the question marks that has been labelled against us as a team as we deal with these away fixtures, and today we did."

Brian commented on the two Colwill brothers, both of whom were withdrawn during the match due to injury.

"He [Rubin] has damaged his ankle ligaments, and I think the nature of the way the injury occurred suggests that it won't be a short-term injury. Joel picked up a gash on his knee, which looked pretty serious on close inspection.

I think Rubin will be out for a period for sure - I don't want to speculate, because I don't know. But I think Joel's was a cut, so once that's treated he should be back pretty quickly.

"All the subs coming on really had a really big impact on our performance. David Turnbull did a great job, Alex Robertson, Perry Ng, and obviously Chris Willock had the final say in the game.

"It's very evident for all the players how important they're going to be over the next period of the season where the fixtures are so fast."
