Northampton Town reaction | Calum Chambers

Calum Chambers
Following City's victory over the Cobblers on Saturday, Calum Chambers spoke to the press at Sixfields Stadium.

The Bluebirds impressed in Northamptonshire as they claimed three points and put themselves on top of the League One table, overcoming late pressure to secure a hard-fought victory.

“It’s massive,” began Calum. “Places like this aren’t easy to come to, they throw everything at you, very direct with the long ball.

"I think they’re the most direct team in the league, so to come here and face that test in these conditions, I thought it was a proper performance.

“I think it shows where we’re at, the character and mentality. It shows we want to prove that and show that we’re a team that want to play good football and dominate games.

"You can’t do that every game, and today was a different test for us, which we passed.

“There were things that we could tidy up on, but at the end of the day we’ve come away with a win from a game like that, so we’re all pretty pleased.”

The skipper went on to shower praise on his teammates, with key contributions coming at both ends of the pitch.

“I’m buzzing for Chris [Willock]," he continued. "He’s been out for a while, working hard. For him to come back and do that I’m really pleased for him.

“Nathan [Trott] has been outstanding. They put a bit of pressure on us at times in the second half, and he stepped up.

"Some of the saves he made were unbelievable. He’s been doing that all season and was there when we needed him; kept us in the game and in front, and it was a great collective performance.

“It was a good test for us today, and a learning curve for seeing where we’re at as well. We dealt with it really well, tried to stop Nathan from having to deal with too much in goal, but when he needed to he was top class.”
