Ollie Tanner spoke to the press following Cardiff City’s emphatic 5-1 victory over Northampton Town at Cardiff City Stadium.
“It was really enjoyable,” Ollie began. “It was nice to get the lead we had in the first half and from then it was just an easier day.
“I think you saw the team performance, and it was nice for Rob [Tankiewicz] to get some minutes at the end. It was a really positive day on the whole.
“You’ve just the enjoyment and the smiles on the boys’ faces - just players enjoying football.
“I was just standing around then and sort of taking it all in because we've said for the last few weeks that these moments don't come around often, so you’ve got to enjoy them.
“I spoke to loads of people who have done it in the past - Sean Morrison texted me before, and he's had a few moments. He said don’t let anything pass you by, enjoy every moment, because you don't know when these moments are going to come again.”
Tanner scored his first brace for the Bluebirds in a dominant display and was pleased to see his hard work pay off. Ollie continued: “It’s nice - I’ve been working on it!
“It was good to get two today. The assists have been there, but not the goals, so it was nice to get a couple.
“It was the last home game and to score the amount of goals that we did as a team just topped off the season.”
Looking ahead to next season in the Championship, Tanner reflected on the squad’s confidence and ambitions.
He concluded: “To play the amount of minutes that I've played, it can only give you confidence to go into next season and attack the league. We can go again and have a really positive season.
“The belief in the group is massive, and in this manager that we have, the way he lets us play and sets us up. I don't think there's any limit to what this team and this club can achieve.”
