Callum O'Dowda spoke to Cardiff City TV to preview our clash with Watford on Saturday afternoon.
The Bluebirds will return to Cardiff City Stadium for back-to-back home matches, with Preston North End on Wednesday.
“I think we’ve done a lot better when we’ve been at home this season and I’d say that the whole environment and surroundings have helped us to play much better football," Callum began. "Generally, around the league, that’s predominantly how it has been. Just getting back with the fans, for me personally, I much prefer playing at home. We’ve had a good week so far, especially without having the midweek fixture.
"Training has been good, really good in fact. It has been hard I’d say over the last few weeks coming back off that last international break to get into a good flow. I’d say teams around the league, you’re always going to struggle when you’re going from Saturday to Tuesday or Saturday to Wednesday, to then get a real flow.
"This week has been a lot more beneficial with really analysing the previous [game] then going on to here. It’s been good, but then again, it is the same for them. It has been nice to have a little rest as well into the legs, but all the lads are going to be fired up and ready for Saturday."
Saturday's opponents are currently sixth in the table and were held to a goalless draw against Queens Park Rangers last time out.
Callum continued: "Watford have always been extremely competitive, very fast, attacking football, which I remember from the past few seasons. When they have come down, they’ve always been very strong, very aggressive and we know exactly what we’re going to come up against. We know their record away from home and we need to try and capitalise on that, for sure. They’re a very good, offensive team, good on the counter, so it’ll be to nullify their threats and impose our philosophy on them.
“The support really does give us a boost. There have been times where, like the Norwich game springs to mind, when you’ve got that buzz and you’re coming into the last 10 minutes of the game and you’re on the attack, that rise lifts the levels. It does intimidate the opposition as well, so we need the fans in their numbers, because they play a massive part."
This weekend's fixture will be the first of six matches in December, where the Bluebirds will be aiming to gain momentum to take into 2025.
“It will be an important block for us, where games will be coming fast, but we’re ready for it," Callum added.
“It’s massive, the more games the better I think, especially with the recent weeks have been tough, results haven’t gone our way.
“We need to be really hard to beat, which we are starting to adapt. It’s a massive part of the season for us. It’s about building momentum and get as many points as we can.”
