Peterborough United reaction | Brian Barry-Murphy

Brian Barry-Murphy
Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the press to reflect on Easter Monday's 1-1 draw at Peterborough United.

“I felt as if we created enough chances today to win the game clearly but we didn’t take them," Brian began.

“We have constantly been working on our attacking play to create more clearcut chances in the wake of our recent performances where we’ve had good domination with the ball but haven’t created enough chances for our liking.

“That element of our game was good today but the next step is to convert those chances.”

The Bluebirds created numerous opportunities throughout the contest but it was substitute Alex Robertson who got on the scoresheet just minutes after his introduction.

Brian continued: “We wanted to win the game. The backing we had was incredible again today and when we scored, I was very confident that we would kick on and score more goals.

“Peterborough always have danger because of their front players and they are able to break forward and score. You saw that with the chances that they created on the counter-attack.

“Their goal was difficult for us to take but we bounced back from that and created chances; the players attacked until the last minute.

“We have to accept that the results recently haven’t been what we would have wanted. Our response to that has been to work incredibly hard to produce the chances that will give us the chance to win games.

“Today, the players did everything but take those chances and they left everything on the pitch for the supporters so I can’t ask any more of them in that respect.”

Yousef Salech

The fixture marked a return from injury for striker Yousef Salech, who was introduced in the second half for his first appearance since January.

“It’s very significant because of the nature of his injury and how severe it was," Brian added.

"He has only been back a few days in full training so he is still getting used to that feeling of heading the ball again and being in contact with other players.

"To get him back on the pitch, for his teammates and for the supporters, is a very big moment.”
