The Bluebirds' first game since promotion ended in victory at CCS on Wednesday evening, and Dylan Lawlor shared his thoughts with the press after the match.
“It feels good." said Dylan. "I have nothing else to say; it’s an incredible feeling. It was about being together on Saturday. We had a nice night together, but the attention turned to tonight as we still have a job to do, and to win games.
“I didn’t feel the pressure of promotion in the traditional sense. Every time you put on the Cardiff City shirt, you’re hoping for the best performance you possibly can, so for me, there’s always pressure. Everyone has relaxed a bit now, which is easier to do once the job is done."
The Welsh international, who has played 30 games this season for City, spoke about his relationship with Brian Barry-Murphy and his first full season of senior football.
“Brian has been unbelievable. Everyone has bought into what he wanted from the first day he walked in. He’s changed the mentality of the club in the way he sees the game and the way he’s handled himself. He probably doesn’t give himself enough credit for the season he’s had.
Dylan continued: “I’ve loved working for him. I don’t think there’s a better coach to work for in the first season, to be honest. The trust he’s put in me through playing me has been incredible.”
The defender concluded by giving his ambitions for next season’s Championship campaign, and what it means to give back to the Bluebirds fans.
He said: “We’re all excited for next season. The job this season was to get out of this league, because it’s tough. As soon as this season finishes, we’ll all look forward to next season, which will hopefully be another big one for us.
"The support the fans have given us this season has been amazing, so to give them back a little something with this promotion was incredible.”
