Following an incredible weekend and a 1-0 victory at CCS on Wednesday evening, Joel Bagan spoke to Cardiff City TV.
“It’s been an unbelievable few days!" Joel began. "The way it ended on Saturday - we knew we were close after the Huddersfield result, but to do it in front of 3,000 travelling fans was amazing.
"It was hard to describe that feeling on Saturday. It’s something you dream about when you are a kid. I remember the year I joined when I was 16, and it was the year we went up to the Premier League. You wonder what it’s like to be part of a team that gets promoted, so to do that, and to do it with boys I’ve known for a long time, makes it even more special.”
Joel was named in the EFL Sky Bet League One Team of the Year on Sunday, and discussed which elements of his game he had improved to become a standout performer this season.
“Momentum, and the confidence that Brian [Barry-Murphy] and the rest of the staff have put in me from the first day they came in. I felt good in pre-season, I felt fit and strong. I took that into the start of the season and took it in my stride. I feel like I’ve had a consistent season.
“I’m proud. It’s been an amazing year from start to finish, and a special season. We’ll look back at this season and be proud of it."
And, on who Joel believes will be City's Player of the Season, he predicted: “I’d love to win it, but I’d give it to Ryan [Wintle].”
