PRE-MATCH | IAIN DARBYSHIRE
Ahead of the clash, we spoke to head coach Iain Darbyshire.
“It was a great result for us on Sunday and everyone is feeling very positive,” Iain began. “It was such an exciting game to be a part of and I’m glad that the fans enjoyed it. We managed to produce a great performance for them.
“With the games that we had postponed in December, it gives us an opportunity to use the depth of our squad. We have some great young players and some that are thriving at U19 level. Tomorrow will be an opportunity for some of them to show what they can do.
“Trefelin have got some of our former players who are fantastic footballers and are legends of the Adran Leagues. We know that they still have the quality to hurt us and we’re expecting them to be structured. They will look to make it difficult for us. It is a game that we are taking very seriously. This is a competition that we have won in the last four years and we don’t want that to change going forward.”
PRE-MATCH | LAURA CURNOCK
Striker Laura Curnock also previewed Wednesday evening's fixture.
"Spirits are certainly really high after Sunday's win. Every single one of us went into that game knowing that we could leave no stone unturned. We knew that we could get the job done but it was about showing up on the day.
"We need to carry on that momentum now; it's nice to start the calendar year with such a huge win like that but that gives us a platform now for the coming weeks.
"We have an extremely busy January which is why we'll need to lean on every single member of our squad. This is a chance for us to show how much depth we have and every single player in our squad has a massive part to play over this busy period and beyond that. It's just about utilising every member of our squad and making a strong finish to Phase One.
"Every cup game that we play provides their own challenges and this will be no different. Trefelin have got some former players of ours who have got a lot of quality so it will be a great test for us. I'm looking forward to it."
OPPOSITION FOCUS
Trefelin head into Wednesday’s contest currently sitting second in the table in the third tier.
The side began their Bute Energy Welsh Cup campaign with an 11-0 win over Cardiff Wanderers.
That result was followed by a tie against Cascade, which they won by a 3-1 scoreline.
Their most recent fixture came on December 7th, claiming a 5-3 victory over Llanbradach AFC Ladies.
In Trefelin’s ranks are former Bluebirds Kelly Adams and Emma Beynon, who both played a crucial role in winning the treble during their time at the Club.
