The fixture will take place on Sunday, January 11th, with a kick off time of 2pm.

Iain Darbyshire
PRE-MATCH | IAIN DARBYSHIRE

We spoke to head coach Iain Darbyshire ahead of this Sunday's clash.

“We’ve had a positive start to the year.” Iain began. We’ve had a couple of big results and we're playing well. The players put a lot of work in over Christmas and gave up a lot of their time to make sure that we started well in 2026, and you can see that from the results of that last couple of games.

"This game will be a massive one for us. The Adran Trophy is a tournament we want to win and it's a tournament we’ve won once but we've had a bit of up and down form over the years so for us, it's about making sure we perform on the day and give ourselves the best chance of making a final.

"TNS have had two good games against us this season, recording four points against us in the league. In both games, we feel like we've had moments where we could have been a bit more clinical and took a hold of the game. But our focus is on taking our chances when they come and making sure that we're a little bit better off the ball. We know they're a very dangerous team and they can hurt us a lot on the counter-attack."

The Bluebirds have already played twice in 2026, and with a busy schedule coming up, Iain spoke of managing minutes and the current state of the squad.

“We managed to rest a few players from our game with Trefelin which was good.” Iain continued. There were some great performances by a lot of the younger players so we managed the minutes well, so everyone's fresh and everyone will be ready. We’ve got another two games next week as well, so it is a challenge but it's an exciting challenge. If you're challenging for trophies you have to make sure that you're fit and you're ready to perform in these games.”

"We’ve got a great squad with players who are full of confidence. Maddison [Perrott] and Fiona [Barry] both got a hat-trick last game, Laura Curnock is scoring a lot of goals. We’ve got goals across the whole team at the minute which is great."

Maddison Perrott
PRE-MATCH | MADDISON PERROTT

Maddison Perrott also previewed Sunday's game, after scoring a hat-trick against Trefelin BGC in midweek.

"We all know it’s a massive game," she said. "TNS have gained four points against us this season, but we have worked hard in training and put together a solid gameplan. The girls are ready and our minds are set on progressing, so it’s all about executing this on Sunday to make sure we put in a strong and meaningful performance.

"We trained hard across the Christmas period to make sure we are as prepared as we can be and we’ve had a good start to the year with a couple of important results. Winning any game is always a massive confidence boost for us, but we can’t get too ahead of ourselves. We take each game as it comes with the same winning mentality.

"Getting my first hat-trick for the Club this week has really meant the world to me. Getting a goal anytime I play with the girls is an amazing feeling but that was really special. I really hope I can continue this goal-scoring form into the next important games coming up."
