Iain Darbyshire
PRE-MATCH | IAIN DARBYSHIRE

“I'm very excited for this weekend.” Iain began. “We’re coming into it off the back of a very good result and the league is always going to be the priority for us. The players put in a good performance against Wrexham, but Swansea are also in really good form at the minute, so we know it'll be a very difficult game.

“The message this week has been about consistency, making sure that our levels that were shown last Sunday are replicated this weekend. Making sure that we're dominant, winning our duels and we're good enough on and off the ball to be able to go win the game. It's been another really good week in training, so I'm feeling positive going into it.

“The result against Wrexham reminds us that we are good enough and we're not in this position by chance. Sometimes you need a result like that to kind of spur you on going forward and I think that the players have responded really well. That’s both the ones who played and the ones who have come into the game, so it's important that we continue to do that on a consistent basis.”

OPPOSITION FOCUS

This weekend’s opponents sit in third position in the league standings and are currently on a seven-match win streak, last tasting defeat to the Bluebirds when the two sides met in the Genero Adran Trophy in December.

City put in a dominant performance to win the tie 6-0. First half goals from Hannah Power, Kerry Walklett and Mackenzie Olden put the Bluebirds in control at the break before Megan Bowen and a Fiona Barry brace wrapped up the rout in Llandarcy.

The Swans won their opening game in the Championship round after beating The New Saints 5-2 at Park Hall, with Chloe Chivers grabbing four goals for her side and taking her total to 16 in the league this campaign.
