Iain Darbyshire
PRE-MATCH | IAIN DARBYSHIRE

Ahead of Sunday's contest, head coach Iain Darbyshire said: “It’s going to be a great match against a good attacking side in Wrexham and a game I expect there will be goals in.

"They’ve played free-flowing football and possess good attacking players, so we know it’s going to be a difficult game for us.

"However, with our philosophy and how we play football, we’re not going to stand down from that and we believe we can go there, play our football and get a positive result.

“It’s been a very good start to the season for us and have performed well in every single game so far. We’ve had some positive results, scored a lot of goals and played some very good football. We’re happy with where we are at the moment.

“We’re well aware that we still have a way to go to be where we need to be and this weekend will be a big part of that development.”

Full-back Ffion Price, who made her first start of the season last time out against Aberystwyth Town, added: “It’s always a tough game against Wrexham. They’re a strong side and recruited a lot of players this year. We are all really excited and look forward to the challenge.

"They’ve recruited well and have a lot of talent. It’s great to see the Adran Premier attract players from other leagues, which helps develop the league and challenge us further.

“The team morale and confidence in the squad is high. We’re taking each game as it comes. It’s been pleasing to see us maintain our success in front of goal and we hope to continue that into Sunday.

“I was excited to get back in the starting lineup and to be on the pitch with the girls again. It’s been a difficult injury for me but I’m very grateful for the support I’ve had around me.

"It felt good to be back against Aberystwyth and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.”

Wrexham AFC
OPPOSITION FOCUS | WREXHAM AFC

The hosts have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign, currently sitting second place in the league standings on goal difference.

After winning their opening two fixtures against Briton Ferry Llansawel and Barry Town United, Wrexham suffered a 4-2 defeat to The New Saints, but have since bounced back by winning their next two games.

After cruising to a 6-1 win at home to newly-promoted Pontypridd United, Wrexham most recently recorded a 3-1 away win at Swansea City, with two early goals coming from Ava Suckley and Katie Barker, before Lili Jones cancelled out Stacey John’s goal in the second half to ensure all three points.

The last time the two sides met was in the 2024/25 Bute Energy Welsh Cup Final, where the Bluebirds emerged as 3-1 victors.

Lily Billingham opened the scoring after just six minutes before Shannon Evans doubled City’s lead on the half-hour mark.

Abbie Iddenden’s penalty reduced Wrexham's deficit, but Fiona Barry’s strike midway through the second half ensured the trophy would travel back to the Welsh capital for a third consecutive season.
