Pre-Match Press - Blackburn Rovers | Calum Scanlon

Calum Scanlon
Ahead of City’s return to action this weekend, Calum Scanlon spoke to the press at CCS.

With the Bluebirds returning from a lengthy international break, Calum reflected on keeping an eye out for teammates who featured for their countries, as well as how training has looked in the interim.

“We’ve been cracking on and training hard,” began Calum. “We’ve had a few in-house games as well which has been good for getting minutes in the legs, but I’d say it’s been a positive break and the boys are ready to go again.

“The lads have kept an eye out on the boys making international appearances, so I was buzzing when Joel Bagan got the call up, and it’s a big thing for him to have made his international debut.

“We’re proud of all of the boys.”

The defender discussed his enjoyment at playing for the Bluebirds in his second loan spell with the Club, and now looks forward to building upon City’s first three points earned last time out.

“Last season was a bit different to where I am now. I’m in a much better place physically and it’s been good.

“Going forwards now I’m looking forward to getting as many minutes in the tank as I can and keep doing my thing. It’s been an enjoyable experience so far, and I’m just looking to keep improving.

“If you look at the games I think we could have gotten more from some of them. I don’t think the points we’ve got have been reflective of the performances, but that’s football sometimes.

Turning attention towards Blackburn Rovers, he concluded: “As long as we’re doing our bit and leaving everything out on the pitch, I think that’s all that matters. Obviously we want to win as many games as we can, but I firmly believe that if we keep applying everything that we do in training into the games, then there’s no doubt we’ll fetch as many points as we can.

“We’re prepared for the game on the weekend, I think all the lads are ready to go. We want to go there and win, and show what we’re about.

“I think everyone is excited to get going again, with the international break being so long we’re all very ready and excited, so we can’t wait."
