Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the press ahead of this weekend’s fixture against the Trotters.
Looking ahead towards Saturday, Brian shared his expectations from a meeting with Wanderers, who were also promoted to the Sky bet Championship at the end of last season.
“I’ve studied their last three of four games really closely,” Brian began. “I think they’ve evolved since last season, have added quite a lot of players during the transfer window but still have the same qualities and the trends are pretty clear.
“We understand how good they are and how difficult it was to beat them in our home game, and how difficult it was to concede against them last minute at their stadium.
“It’s a game we’re relishing and whereas on Tuesday we felt we performed really well, we now have to back that up and improve again. If we do, we give ourselves a great chance.”
With the Bluebirds working for their first win of the league campaign despite consistently positive performances, Barry-Murphy discussed the finer details of improving as a team.
“The focus for us is on the parts of the game that we need to improve,” Brian continued. “We believe that we can get better in the immediacy, which will help us in our objective to win.
“It’s important that we don’t sit on the metrics that we’re doing well in, we have to focus on winning games.
“Playing for this club and in front of our supporters, we have to produce end product and enough goalmouth action to get us the chance to score goals and win.
“We’re not getting complacent, we’re far from it and starving to produce a performance that will allow us to win and quickly.”
Providing an injury update on the First Team squad, Brian concluded: “Dylan Lawlor is making really good progress. Saturday will come too soon for him.
“Will Fish is slightly behind Dylan, and Calum Chambers is still not close to returning. He has ongoing knee, neck and back issues so his is more complicated.
“Rubin [Colwill] wasn’t fit for Tuesday based on some slight irritation with his ankle, so we can’t take any chances with him.
“We’re not sure if Rubin will be fit for Saturday or not, but the other guys are getting really close which is very positive.”
