Reflecting on recent performances and with City continuing a rich vein of form with a 4-0 victory on Tuesday night, Brian calls for continued focus from his squad as Saturday's fixture approaches.

“It was a very difficult game when we played against Burton in our own stadium," said Brian. "They clearly showed how dangerous a team they are and have continued to do so.

“They’ve had some brilliant results against top team and obviously were very competitive in the game against Bolton on Tuesday, so it’s going to be a really tough game and one that we’re looking forward to.

“We always want more. We’re very grateful for the efforts that the players are making and how much improvement they’re making, but I think that the best thing about working with this squad at this time is there is so much more to come from them, and so much that we can focus on a daily basis, which is the best part of the job.

“I was very pleased with a lot of what I saw yesterday from the game on Tuesday. The most energising thing that gives you the focus to go again is when you see things that you think could be better. When it’s evident that there are still things that can be better, it’s a great place to be."

With the Bluebirds continuing their run at the top of the table throughout January, Barry-Murphy further discussed the state of the squad, along with providing an injury update on Yousef Salech following his withdrawal on Saturday.

“The response from the players amid a congested period of fixtures has been impressive," Brian continued. "The players have come through the other side of January in a good state and again with more room for improvement. The squad is in a really good place, so of course we’re pleased.

“We’ll be seeing Yousef [Salech] for the first time today, and the message to him and our supporters is we’re going to be really considerate of what he needs and take it step by step so that after his injury we can make sure that he’s in a really good place to come back.”
