With the Bluebirds on the road and looking for a return to winning ways, Robertson reflected on the squad’s response on the training pitch this week.

“We’ve had a good week in training so far,” began Alex. “Obviously the result wasn’t nice for the players, staff or fans, but that was our first loss in twelve games. You’ve got to lose a football game at some point, but the main thing is how you bounce back, and we’ve had a good week so far and we’re ready to go again this weekend.

“If you do get too high when you win, something like what happened on the weekend can affect you more so than if you keep a level head both ways, so I think the team is pretty good at doing that and taking it game by game.

“The senior boys like Chambo [Calum Chambers] and Robbo [Callum Robinson] were there to really reiterate that we hadn’t lost in twelve games, so everyone stayed calm and we’re focussed on Saturday and a chance to bounce back that way.

“There’s no point dwelling on it now, we’ve just got to go to the next one and then the next one after that, building on what we’ve already done this season and trying to get the goal that we all want.”

Continuing, the midfielder discussed Saturday’s opponents, who will host City having won three of their last four league fixtures.

“They gave us a good game when they were here,” Alex recalled. “Doncaster are a good team, and every team in this league comes with their own qualities, and we just need to try to work out what they are and stop that.

"We’re expecting a similar challenge from them on the weekend.”

Alex concluded: “I’m enjoying my football. It’s been nice to get a run of games. I think that three game week just gone is the first time I’ve played all three since last season.

“All I want to do is just play football, and to try to help the team with whatever I can.”
