Pre-Match Press - Leyton Orient | Nathan Trott

Nathan Trott
Nathan Trott previewed our Sky Bet League One fixture against Leyton Orient on Saturday by speaking to the press.

The City goalkeeper, who has made 11 appearances in all competitions since joining the Club, began by reflecting on his first few months in the Welsh capital.

“It’s been a pleasure,” Nathan said. “I feel like I fit right into what Brian [Barry-Murphy] wants in a goalkeeper.

“He made the message clear even before I signed what he wanted from me and it’s just been up to me to listen to what he wants me to do and use it in games. I think it’s gone pretty well so far and I hope it continues.

“I’ve settled in very quickly, have been around the city and had a warm welcome from my teammates, the coaching staff and the fans.

“That has helped me to perform on the pitch and feel comfortable straight away. It’s never easy to come to a new club and be straight in the team, but it’s a credit to everyone at the Club who have made the transition a lot easier to be able to perform on the field.”

Providing an insight into the City squad, Nathan continued by sharing how impressed he has been with the young players in particular.

“The level of talent is high,” Nathan stated. “A lot of the young players, I didn’t know before, so seeing them day-in, day-out and playing with them, it’s amazing how much ability and potential that they have. We have one of the youngest teams in the league and for them to perform in the way that they have, it’s great to see.

“It’s a huge positive because it shows how much belief the Club has in the Academy and the young talent that we have. Especially with this manager, it must be an amazing time to be a young player at the Club.”

The Bluebirds head into Saturday’s match looking to bounce back immediately from a narrow defeat to Burton Albion in midweek.

“The group have responded positively,” Nathan continued. “We know what we wanted to do and can see how we played well if you look at the numbers. We created a lot of chances and had a lot of positive impacts on the game.

“It just wasn’t our day in front of the goal and that ended up with us taking the defeat. We can find the positives from it. It’s a long season ahead and we just need to keep pushing forward.

“We’re only at the start of the season and we’ve had plenty of positive performances. Some games have been close where we’ve taken the points, but that game was one that went the other way and we have to deal with that.”
