Pre-Match Press - Peterborough United | Brian Barry-Murphy

Brian Barry-Murphy previewed Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup clash against Peterborough United by speaking to the press.

The Bluebirds head into the fixture after a 2-1 win over Wrexham in the Carabao Cup, with a fixture against Chelsea to come in the Quarter-Final.

“I think we were clear from the start, the idea was to give the players and the supporters, everybody associated with the Club the opportunity to experience something unique," Brian began.

"Wrexham was a case of that and now Chelsea at home is a great opportunity for all of our supporters to attend the game against a team who are the world champions and have so many world class players.

"It's going to be a great occasion when it comes around but it seems a long way off in the distance at this point.

"When that game comes around, to see our stadium as full as near to full as possible will be a great occasion and something we're all looking forward to.

"For the players, they'll just be focused on training today and preparing for Saturday. We never look further than today because of how important it is. We just have to remain consistent in the way we train and try and play."

Saturday’s opponents currently sit at the foot of the League One table having suffered a 2-1 defeat against Blackpool last time out.

Ahead of beginning our Emirates FA Cup campaign, Brian said: "We prepare exactly the same to give ourselves a chance to win the game.

"Peterborough have brought in Luke Williams so it's as important as ever to focus on ourselves and try to make sure we're in the best condition possible.

"It's quite difficult to prepare for his team with Peterborough because they're so new.

"More than ever, we have to focus on ourselves and be at our best to give ourselves a chance of progressing, and that's our intention."

Our last meeting against Posh coming on the opening day of the season at Cardiff City Stadium.

Having fell behind from a penalty, City fought back in the second half to earn all three points, with goals from Rubin Colwill and Ronan Kpakio.

“I think we’re improving all the time," Brian added. "There’s obviously inconsistencies in our performance, which is very natural and normal when a new team is forming.

"We’re progressing; the challenge for us is to be consistent more and more, and try to reflect that in our performances.

"That is the intention throughout the season, but the players have shown that they’re willing to be really focused on that and I’m sure if we can do that, we’ll be fine."
