Pre-Match Press - Plymouth Argyle | Brian Barry-Murphy

Brian Barry-Murphy
Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Devon, Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the press at CCS.

With City arriving at Home Park at the top of the Sky Bet League One table, Brian calls for renewed focus from the Bluebirds as they face the in-form Pilgrims.

“They’re back in flying form and making great strides,” Brian began. "It’s been very clear how well they’ve started games and the type of football they’ve played has been very good, so we know that we’ll have to be at our best from the very start, otherwise we won’t be good enough.

“It will be a great test for us, and more often than not a great playing pitch, so I’m really looking forward to that.

“We’ll try our best to play at the intensity that we know we need to be at to be competitive, play our best game and try to win.”

Reflecting on City’s unbeaten run of 12 league fixtures, Barry-Murphy discussed the strength of competition within the First Team squad, both in training and on matchdays.

“I think that we’re in really good form,” Brian continued. “Individually, the players are feeling the competitiveness of the squad to compete against each other to get on and play.

“We have to be focussed on today, to try to prepare as best as we can tomorrow, and then see where we are on Saturday.

“I think that the players are focussed firstly on getting in the squad, and then trying to play well and give ourselves a chance to win. At the moment we’re doing that, and we’ll have to try to get that to continue.”

Providing an injury update, Brian concluded: “We anticipate that both Isaak [Davies] and Gabriel [Osho] will train this afternoon.

"In Gabriel’s case it should be pretty straight forward, with Isaak less so, but we’ve just got to see how he reacts to his first exposure to the team and take it from there.

Yousef [Salech] saw a specialist last Monday. He’s back on the pitch today doing some running, and we’ll see how he progresses from there before stepping back into the team.

"We’re still keen not to put any time scales on it due to the nature of what he’s gone through and what he’s likely to on his journey back to playing.”
