Pre-Match Press - Wigan Athletic | Callum Robinson

Ahead of Saturday’s return to league action, Callum Robinson spoke to the press at CCS.

Reflecting on the beginning to the season amidst a busy schedule of cup and league fixtures alike, the forward shared his thoughts on the team’s form and his own, having recorded three goals in his last three appearances for the Bluebirds.

“Throughout the season we’ve got so many games, everybody is going to be used," he began. "This month sums it up.

“I always think that if you get into a negative frame of mind then you’re not going to be ready when you do come on, and that’s key to think about.

“We’ve got a really humble and honest group, and I think that’s going to take us a long way.

“We’re winning games but showing character; scoring late goals and playing well, with possession through the roof, and I do believe that we will get better and we’re nowhere near where this group can get to.

“I’m happy, I’ve had to wait to get my chances and since the break I’ve gotten more minutes and scored from them. Since coming back I’ve been feeling sharper."

Turning his attention towards this weekend’s return to the north of England, Robbo’s ambition is clear as City prepare for another run of league fixtures.

“It’s going to be another tough one on Saturday,” said Callum. “If you think about all of our games this season, the away ones have been really tough.

“Our first loss of the season has been at home, but from my point of view nobody makes it easy, which we expect again on Saturday.

“It would be amazing to get a win back in the league, especially with the week ahead, if we can get a win early doors in the week then it would be good for us ahead of going into the following Tuesday and Saturday.

He concluded: “Credit to the fans who came down on Tuesday night, it was a long trip for them and a late one getting back, we thank all of the fans when they’re coming to these games.

“It will be nice at Wigan, it’s a good stadium, and hopefully we can get our fans in there and get the win for them.”
