City and Roma share a special connection with the year 1927, and both clubs will be enjoying centenary celebrations later in the season. The 100th anniversary of our historic FA Cup win takes place in April 2027, whilst the summer months will mark 100 years since the formation of our Italian opponents.
Managed by Gian Piero Gasperini, Roma finished third in Serie A last season, securing a return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time in seven years. They also reached the Round of 16 in the UEFA Europa League.
I Giallorossi have five players currently competing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup: Neil El Aynaoui for Morocco, Zeki Celik for Turkey, Donyell Malen for the Netherlands, Evan Ndicka for Cote d'Ivoire and Manu Kone for France.
Following this friendly match, Brian Barry-Murphy’s men will begin their 2026/27 competitive campaign in Round One of the Carabao Cup (weekend of 8/9th August), before the Sky Bet Championship begins the following weekend (weekend of 15/16th August). Our fixtures for both competitions will be confirmed tomorrow, Thursday, 25th June.
