Press Conference | Neil Warnock post-Derby County
Neil Warnock spoke at Pride Park following the Bluebirds’ 1-1 draw with Derby County on Friday night.
The result saw City make it four Sky Bet Championship games unbeaten but, while the Gaffer was pleased with his troops’ endeavour, he was frustrated not to find a winner over the Rams.
“I thought we tried to get the win,” he began. “But all credit to [Derby County] - they had some good periods too.
“We had chances again. I thought we had some very good break-aways where the final ball was missing tonight. I was disappointed with that, but I thought the effort was super.”
Robert Glatzel opened his City account after winning and taking a crucial first-half spot-kick. Warnock was delighted to see the no. 9 hit the back of the net with aplomb, as he continued: “He’s done ever so well for us.
“He’s great in the dressing room and the lads love him as well. He puts them away in training and it’s lovely to get your first goal.”
Injuries and international duties impacted on the Bluebirds’ line-up in Derbyshire, but the Gaffer explained how pleased he was to continue the unbeaten run, with a number of key players approaching a return to full fitness.
“We’ve had a few problems this week," finished the Gaffer. "But the other lads are a week nearer to getting fit as well. We’re hanging in there and we’ve gone four games undefeated.
“I thought we looked solid tonight. You’ve got to set off on those runs, even if they are just points, and I think we’re looking forward to the next game now.”
