Following Cardiff City’s defeat in west London, Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the press at Loftus Road.
City – who went two goals down before Perry Ng’s strike halved the deficit late on – pushed for an equaliser, though ultimately fell short on the night.
“I’m very disappointed, naturally,” Brian reflected. “I don’t think we were at our best in the first half, and we didn’t have the technical level that we normally have, but I’m disappointed to concede the goal that we did.
“Try as hard as we did in the second half, we couldn’t get it back.
“We knew they’d be on the counterattack when we gave the ball away. The way that we want to play, you have to be good technically.
“In the first half our intensity wasn’t where it would normally be, and as such we gave the ball away in dangerous situations and in the second half that continued.”
Brian concluded: “The players gave it everything in the end to get back into it, but it wasn’t to be.
“We just didn’t find the right levels today and as such probably suffered for it.
“We always try our best to give the supporters a team that we can be proud of, and the players kept going until the end, but unfortunately we couldn’t get a point back.”
