Salech post-Rotherham United | Goals, a home win and a clean sheet

Yousef Salech
Yousef Salech spoke to Cardiff City TV following our 3-0 victory over Rotherham United on Saturday afternoon.

The City striker recorded his first goal of the season to open the scoring, showing his physical dominance to head home from a corner.

“It’s a very good day," Yousef began. "Three goals, a home win and a clean sheet for the second league game in a row, I think we did a brilliant job in every position.

“As a striker, that’s what you want to do, score as many as possible. To get my first goal of the season, it’s a nice feeling."

After Salech's opening goal in the first half, the Bluebirds produced a fine second half showing with a clear control of possession, as Cian Ashford and Rubin Colwill also got on the scoresheet.

Yousef continued: “The fans can see what we’re trying to implement in the game and how he [Brian Barry-Murphy] wants us to play, but we already know, because we see it every day in training and we try to improve on it.

"It’s very important for us to keep trying and believe in it, because we need to believe in it to make it work and that’s what happened today.

“I’m sure the fans will continue with that support. There will be a lot of home games where we’ll have a lot of the ball because that’s the way that we want to play."

This afternoon's starting XI included five products of City's academy, with Yousef forming a formidable connection with no.10 Colwill, who captained the side.

“I don’t feel very young in this team," Yousef added. "There are a lot of Academy players, which is great for the Club and for the fans as well, they’ll enjoy it.

“Me and Rubin have a good partnership. Hopefully we can keep improving on that and the whole team can improve together.”
