Both of Cardiff City’s opening day goal scorers, Rubin Colwill and Ronan Kpakio, spoke to Sky Sports following the Bluebirds’ 2-1 victory over Peterborough United.
“When we went behind it was important to show that we weren’t going to change from our plan,” Rubin began.
“We wanted to stick to what we knew because we knew it was going to work, and that paid off in the second half.
"In the first half we were brilliant too, but it was just that one lapse in concentration that meant we conceded. It’s only going to get better from here if we keep working hard.”
After going behind through a penalty, City responded quickly at the start of the second half as today's captain scored a stunning free-kick.
Rubin continued: “Practicing free kicks is something I always do. I’ve scored a few in pre-season so I had the confidence to tell myself, why not? We were behind too so I went for it and thankfully it went in.”

On the hour mark, fellow academy graduate Kpakio scored a stunning goal to put Brian Barry-Murphy’s side in front.
“It’s a mad feeling to get my first senior goal,” Ronan said. “Being here already in itself is such a great achievement but to be able to get a goal in the first league game of the season is something you can only wish for.
“We are always going to give it our all in every game. We will try our best, play the way that we want to, and try to get the results off the back of that. That’s all we can do, work hard and good things will follow.”
Rubin started alongside his brother Joel for the first time ever in league football, and the skipper said it was a dream come true for them both.
“It’s crazy but also a dream to be starting alongside my brother. Everyone dreams of playing for their hometown club, and to do it with my brother makes it extra special.
"Our parents and our grandmother are away so they haven’t seen us, but hopefully they’ve been able to watch us on TV!”

At the end of the game, both Rubin and Joel went around the pitch carrying a shirt in honour of Brent Davis.
Brent had been working at Cardiff City for many years and was a very popular figure around Cardiff City Stadium, and Rubin dedicated today’s win to Brent and his family.
“Brent is a special man. He was always there, always a warm presence and was always kind to everybody.
"We got the shirt today and that win was for Brent and his family. It was his funeral yesterday, and may he forever rest in peace.”
