City's U18s began their Professional Development League Cup campaign with a 3-1 defeat against Swindon Town.
MATCH SUMMARY
City made a brilliant start to the contest, taking the lead inside eight minutes as an impressive ball from Jacob Norris found Logan Cartwright. The left-back beat the goalkeeper to the ball and slotted home for the opener.
The Bluebirds went close to a second goal as a shrewd set-piece routine led to Keano Conaty being free at the back post to head onto the woodwork.
Swindon Town equalised with a set-piece of their own with 25 minutes on the clock.
At the start of the second half, midfielder Dayton Jeremy was shown a second yellow card as City were reduced to ten players. The visitors then took the lead in the 57th minute, converting from the penalty spot.
With the numbers advantage, a third goal went in for Swindon Town in the 73rd minute as they secured victory.
Next up for the U18s is an away clash against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, September 5th, 11am KO.

"There are positives that we can take from the start of the season. To go away against Bolton and face a side that play very differently to how we do, we controlled the game well.
"The Fleetwood game didn't bring a positive result for us but we came away from it knowing where we need to improve. We're gelling as a squad and have got on really well off the pitch. We're getting used to how each other play on the field and that's going to be pivotal for us when we go into cup competitions like Saturday.
"All of us are looking forward to the challenge. We focus on each game individually, playing how we want to and aiming to go far in the competition.
"Every game is so important and it's an opportunity to develop. You see how quickly players like Rob Tankiewicz have progressed through the scholarship programme and he's doing what he's doing now, we're all working hard towards that."
RECENT RESULTS
The young Bluebirds began their season with a 3-1 victory at Bolton Wanderers.
Trailing at the break, goals from Tom Prickett, Leo Papirnyk and Tiger Tobin gave City all three points.
In their most recent fixture, the side fell to a 2-1 defeat at home against Fleetwood Town.
Despite applying late pressure following a well-dispatched Papirnyk penalty, City couldn't find a leveller.
