Cardiff City U18s will travel to face Millwall FC in their latest PDL fixture on Wednesday, 29th April.
The game will kick-off at 11am.
PRE-MATCH | TOM HUTTON
“It's going to be a really tough game.” Tom began. “Millwall are towards the top of the league and pushing for a play-off spot so, we know that it's going to be a really difficult game.”
“We've had some really challenging games against them across the years. It's always a physical test first and foremost and they'll be very competitive, so we have to make sure that we combat that straight away and put ourselves in a position where we can show how good we are.”
“We are aiming to go there and perform as positively we can. Tom continued. “We always try and set up to win every game of football, but there's also development going on in this side, Wednesday will be a test for some of the boys that maybe haven't experienced that level of football before at U18s.”
“But it's so important that you capture the learning from that with those players. We have been resting and recovering well from the weekend, and going into this game the aim has been making sure that we're as prepared as we can be.”
RECENT RESULTS
The young Bluebirds cruised to a 6-2 win against Huddersfield Town in their most recent PDL fixture in Leckwith last Saturday.
City fell behind in the opening minute of the game, but immediately went on the front foot in search of an equaliser. Mannie Barton converted on the 25-minute mark with a side-footed effort into the far corner, before doubling his tally with another composed finished 10 minutes later. Hayden Allmark put City two goals ahead shortly before half time after hitting the post with his first attempt on goal but making no mistake on the rebound by tapping home from close-range.
The hosts conceded early into the second half, however as they did in the first, they went out in search of the net themselves quickly, with Jack Sykes finishing off a well worked move to restore the two-goal advantage. Leo Papirnyk scored twice in the space of five minutes to seal the victory for his side, first by converting a dangerous ball from Noah Williams in the 6-yard area, before pouncing on Tiger Tobin’s deflected effort to wrap up the win.
The result leaves the Bluebirds three points off this weekend’s opponents Millwall in second place with a game in hand on other teams in the league.
