Cardiff City’s U18s are back in action this weekend as they take on Swansea City away from home in the PDL.
Kick-off on Saturday, November 29th will be at 11am.
PRE-MATCH | TOM HUTTON
Ahead of Saturday’s fixture, U18 manager Tom Hutton said: “With the way we’ve worked from last weekend heading into this game, I do think the boys want to put things right. We have to see a response. It’s an important fixture for us, and most importantly, if the boys want to progress further in their careers at this football club they have to show a response. For supporters these are the biggest games of the season. Being competitive has to be the bare minimum, and we fell below our standards last weekend. We have to get that side of it right before we start talking about how we want to play. If we don’t, it will be another difficult day.
“The U21s played again on Tuesday and there were some of our lads involved in that, so they’ve had to put the disappointment of Saturday behind them quite quickly. Other than that, we’ve worked as normal this week. We’ve taken the learnings from the weekend and made sure that we’re in a better place heading into this game on Saturday.
“Over the last couple of years, Swansea have been on the other side of the results between us. They came up here last week maybe feeling that they needed to prove a point, and they did just that. Our boys have to take it on the chin. Our boys have to bounce back and make sure we head into Saturday with a better mindset.”
RECENT RESULTS
The young Bluebirds head into this fixture having bowed out of the PDL Cup after being defeated 4-1 by Swansea City last weekend.
Billy Clarke scored a hat-trick for the visitors, while Callum Jones added the fourth late on from the penalty spot. Defender Olly Reynolds pulled a goal back deep into stoppage time, but the defeat means the Bluebirds are knocked out in the group stages.
When it comes to the league, City are aiming to bounce back to winning ways after suffering a narrow defeat to Millwall. The loss leaves Tom Hutton’s side third in the PDL South. They are a point behind second placed Bournemouth and have a game in hand on the Cherries.
Saturday’s opponents, Swansea, are currently one place behind the Bluebirds in fourth.
