Pre-Match | Tom Hutton

“It's a game that we're looking forward to.” Tom began. “Watford are a good team and are well coached with some good players, which we know from previous meetings.

"We know exactly how tough Saturday's going to be but the boys put in a good performance against Brentford and they’ve taken loads of learning from that game.

"It'll just be about trying to build on that again on Saturday to make sure we can keep increasing and keep improving our levels as a as a team.

“The message this week has been to try and carry on the good bits from the weekend. Games against the likes of Brentford and Watford, they always pose really positive tactical challenges for the coaches and also the players.

"I thought the way the players were able to solve them, but also show our identity within the game as well was a real positive.

"So, we spent the week reviewing that and picking out the positive bits from the from the game. But then, there's always bits that you can look to improve on and that's been the focus of the week, and just making sure that we're ready to try and deliver on them on Saturday.”

Jack Sykes
RECENT RESULT

The young Bluebirds bounced back with a 3-0 away win against Brentford last Saturday, with Jack Sykes grabbing a second half hat-trick to take home all three points.

Noah Williams delivered a deep cross to the box in the opening 10 minutes and found Sykes at the back post, who met the effort well and forced a stop from Felix Lyon in the Brentford goal. While Isaac Davies looked for the opener with a long-ranged effort after winning the ball in the middle of the park, his effort sailed over the bar.

With the game goalless at the break, both sides started the second half quickly but were unable to threaten with a shot on target. That would change on the 70-minute mark however, as Sykes drove towards the Bees’ goal after City won possession and slotted into the bottom right-hand corner to give his side the lead.

The hosts had the ball in the net shortly after through Jovan Kasujja, but his effort was ruled out for offside. City capitalised by doubling the lead just two minutes later, as Harry Watts delivered a wicked cross across the face of goal for Sykes to tap home.

He grabbed his hat-trick late on, smashing the ball beyond the goalkeeper through Axel Donczew’s assist and secured the win.

City come into Saturday's clash sitting in second position in the PDL standings, with Watford in fifth.
