Cardiff City's U21 side concluded the season with defeat at CCS.
The young Bluebirds fell behind in the first half, with Ramell Carter scoring a brace for the visitors that proved insurmountable across the course of 90 minutes.
Dan Ola's injury time strike saw City get one back with moments to go, but it wasn't enough for the hosts to stage a comeback.
POST-MATCH | DARREN PURSE
“We created a lot of chances and didn’t finish them off. That was the story of the game. For the first 25 minutes, we never really got into the game. They scored, and then all of a sudden, we thought we’ve got to go and do something now, and we actually played some nice football, but just couldn’t finish our chances. It’s really disappointing because it was there for us to go and qualify for the Play-Offs, but we haven't taken the chances we’ve created.
“We’ll have meetings over the next week or two, going into the close of the season, to try and prepare these boys for the next season. That’s what it’s all about now, preparing the lads.
“If we look at the season as a whole, the players that are up for the First Team at the moment, we’re proud. What we’ve got to do now is get the next crop of players to see what the players that have played up with the First Team have done, know that it is accessible for them and know that it’s achievable for them.”
LAST TIME OUT
The young Bluebirds picked up a point on the road against Colchester United last Tuesday.
Dan Ola gave City the lead in the first half, when he slotted home a well-worked move. However, with seven minutes of normal time to go, the home side equalised, denying City all three points.
